Time is valuable, get the most out of the time that you set aside to work on your business. As Meeting Chair and Facilitator, we structure and facilitate CORE Board meetings to produce the most value and best results for you as board member. Our role is to be the guide from the side, who brings real world experience and guidance to each meeting, but also encourages member participation and engagement. Below is a Best Practices format that we use as the foundation for a productive session. However it is our goal for each board to establish their own unique rhythm and format, which generates the most value and benefit for its members.
Continental Breakfast Reception
Facilitator, Welcome, Opening Comments and Agenda Highlights
Around the Table, with each member giving the board a quick update:
What’s Up? Quick update of what’s up in your organization, Good News, Projects, Accomplishments and/or Frustrations or Issues.
What Are the Numbers? Quick over view of the progress that you’re making on the Key Drivers of your company’s success.
What are your Stucks?: What do you see as choke points or bottle necks, Operationally, Project Related, People, Processes, Products, other?
Board Advisory Session:
The board will focus on each member’s One Thing, each member to discuss their most important issue, concern, or project. Board Members and Facilitator take an active role to offer Ideas, Thoughts and Precautions around each member’s one thing.
Guest Speaker or Best Practices Presentation:
Guest Speakers are vetted by the board prior to the meeting, to assure the most relevant content and value.
Best Practices Presentation: Delivered by the Facilitator or a Group Member, around a topic relevant to the improvement of People, Process, Products, Transferable Business Value and Business Owner’s Quality of Life

The 60/40 Retreat
Some boards choose to substitute a 1 to 2 day 60/40 retreat, for one of their regular board meetings. This gives the Board the chance to integrate, social and recreational activities with their Business Meeting. More often than not, participants will gain as much, if not more value, from their recreational and social interaction as they do from their business meeting. For our CORE Online Boards a 1/2 to full day Round Table meeting serves as their retreat.
Greetings, and thank for your interest, to give you some background, I am the owner of CORE Strategic Business Solutions, a High-Performance Leadership Faculty Member and Business Coach, as well as a Certified BEI Business Transitions Advisor. I have over 30 years of real world experience in acquiring, capitalizing, marketing, growing and transitioning businesses.
My approach as Board Chair is one of being the Guide from the Side, I promote interactive participation and discovery learning by all Board Members. I don't have, or pretend to have all the answers, but I ask really good questions, which helps our members get to the root of an issue, in order to help them produce real world results.
It is my goal to bring relevant knowledge, real world experience, as well as Benchmarks and Best Practices from leading business thinkers and entrepreneurs, to every CORE Board Engagement.
